Last April, RIM gave the world a glimpse of the BlackBerry 6 Operating System. This is a much needed update since the newest advances of the products of other phone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, and HTC are making the BlackBerry look a little too old fashioned. The new BlackBerry mobile operating system features a much more faster Web browser, multi touch, and even the pinch-to-zoom feature popularized by the iPhone. The inbox is also revamped with large thumbnails to show if the message comes from Facebook, SMS, Twitter, etc. There is also an option for inbox RSS (whoa). The media player also got jazzed up as well. Watch a promotional video after the break. This is a must watch for all BlackBerry phone owners.

Before we move on, can I just say that the dancing girl is just too distracting to focus on the actual phone features? Lol.

The only problem I see with this is that most of the cool features like the multi-touch won’t work in almost all of the current BlackBerry models in the market (save for the Storm?). I’ve been thinking of upgrading my BlackBerry Bold 9000 to the 9700 but it looks like it will be wiser to wait until the release of BlackBerry phones that fully support the new operating system.
