The BlackBerry Bold 9800 is RIM’s supposed answer to all the new and advanced phone models being shipped by Apple, HTC, Samsung, etc. It’s actually a slider-type phone and it basically highlights the BlackBerry 6 Operating System. RIM obviously made this into a slider so that users can take advantage of the bigger screen surface for the various multi touch controls of the new operating system. Another big addition brought about by the new operating system is the WebKit browser which will make mobile browsing faster, standards-compliant, and it will almost feel as if you’re browsing on a desktop or laptop computer.
The BlackBerry Bold 9800 is like the “superchild” of the traditional BlackBerry models with the QWERTY keyboard and the BlackBerry Storm touchscreen model. I was initially saving up for an upgrade from my Bold 9000 to the Bold 9700 but it looks like I’ll have to skip on the 9700 in favor of this unit.
