With the popularity of BlackBerry smartphones in the Philippines it was only natural for more shops to start selling accessories. For the longest time I’ve been looking for charging docks and it was nice to finally find the original BlackBerry 9700/9780 charging dock in Greenhills (Theater Mall). You just place the phone on it, plug the charger to the power outlet, and connect it with the dock. It’s sold for Php1,650 and there are only limited stocks available.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is RIM’s latest smartphone launched in the Philippines. We currently have a demo unit courtesy of their local PR Firm. Out of the box the BlackBerry Bold 9780 will definitely remind you of it’s predecessor, the BlackBerry Bold 9700. The only noticeable difference is that the silver band around the Bold 9700 was replaced by a black one. The back battery cover on the Bold 9780 is also a bit tighter and smoother compared to the 9700.
In terms of software, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 already packs the BlackBerry OS6 right out of the box. If you have a Bold 9700 you’ll have to get in on your unit through “unofficial” methods. RIM has promised to Continue reading
What are the reasons for upgrading from a BlackBerry Bold 9700 to the new 9780 model? Based on the spec sheet the Bold 9780 will have a better camera, faster processor, and it will carry the BlackBerry OS 6 right out of the box. For existing users of the 9700 you’ll be able to get OS 6 when it’s officially released. I don’t know if these reasons are compelling enough though. It’s barely been a year since the Bold 9700 was launched and it was a real major upgrade compared to the Bold 9000. Seeing as the 9700 will get OS 6 I don’t think a lot of existing users will bother with shelling out the cash to get the new model.
