It’s good to see that Research In Motion looks at Philippines as an important market. Maybe they should launch a concept store here.
Just got exciting news from RIM’s PR Agency here in the Philippines. They finally decided to launch their official Facebook Page here in the Philippines and they’re calling it BlackBerry Pilipinas. The page is supposed to deliver the latest news, updates, and events to everyone in the BlackBerry Filipino community. I already liked their page, hope you guys do so too!
Last February 6, Research In Motion had a consumer event for their BlackBerry smartphones at the Trinoma Activity Center. Several local celebrities like Kris Aquino, Gab Valenciano, and Dennis Trillo came up on stage and shared with the crowd how they use their BlackBerry phones. RIM also raffled away several units throughout the afternoon.

I’m really happy that Research In Motion is serious in developing the market here in the Philippines. They’re actually hosting a consumer event this coming February 6 at the Trinoma Mall Activity Center called “IN THE NAME OF LOVE: The BlackBerry Show“. Just like how RIM used professionals and celebrities to talk about BlackBerry during CES 2011, they’re also tapping local stars as well! The celebs scheduled to make appearances include: Kris Aquino, Dennis Trillo, Jenneylyn Mercado, Carla Abellana, Geoff Eigenmann, Kris Bernal, Aljur Abrenica, Gab Valenciano, and Sunshine Cruz-Montano. The celebs are cool and all but maybe they should have gotten business people to talk about the BlackBerry experience as well (and it adds more credibility).
Anyway, there will be demo booths for the new models like the BlackBerry Curve 9300, BlackBerry Bold 9780, and the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Oh… they will also be raffling aways BlackBerry handsets to those who go and register. I’ll try to find time to cover this event for BlackBerry Manila.
But let me just say this… the name of the event really sucks. Hehehe.
Research In Motion did some on-stage interviews with different celebrities during CES 2011. Not only did the artist draw media and the crowd but they also became indirect endorsers of the BlackBerry PlayBook (since the interviewer kept mentioning the PlayBook, lol).
